Create Boundaries

From the outset, establish significant parameters for your business:
• Determine one niche market to reach –

While throwing out a wide net may be tempting for new business owners, it is important that you focus your energies on one specific niche market. This will save you time and money and will enable you to hone your selling approach before expanding to larger markets.

• Create a work space –

Starting a home based business brings with it the thrill of being rid of the rigmarole of office life. However, if you do not set aside a specific working area, you will waste precious time searching out work materials. You will also be far more likely to get distracted from your work tasks by common household chores and entertainment lures.

• Make a work schedule –

Although the freedom of working from home is to be envied, indeed. However, if you do not establish a work schedule there will be consequences; either you will slack off and never get anything done or you will work every waking hour and burn out quickly. While your schedule can be flexible, it is a good idea to set basic working hours every day and try your hardest not to stray too far from them. In addition to providing you with the structure needed to succeed as an individual, standard working hours will help your clients to know when they can get in contact with you.
