Starting a successful home business is never easy. Sure, it may get easy once your business is profitable and you possess the know-how and the skill sets to get things done. But it's never easy in the beginning. Yet, people still want to make things difficult for themselves by over-analyzing, procrastinating or trying to be perfect. Here is a tip: stop being all those things! They are detrimental to your success.

The point it: why take a long detour when you can just travel through a shortcut? In school, we are taught not to take shortcuts. The truth is, everyday we are looking for the shorter route. We don't a long route to work if we can take a shorter route. We don't climb the stairs if we don't have to when there is a lift around. Unless you are treating business as a physical exercise, you shouldn't make things difficult for yourself. So when there's a shortcut, use it.

Here's the caveat: using a shortcut usually requires money. If you want to do things faster and better, you may have to pay for it. If you want a professional autoresponder that actually delivers your emails, then you have to pay a small monthly fee for it. If you want a free one that sends out your emails hours after your broadcast it and has appalling delivery rates, then that's taking a longer and ineffective route.

However, there are shortcuts that are free too. Networking is free. If you can network with some successful business owners in your niche and work with them, you can have a shortcut to success. This is called leverage.

So stop doing things the hard way and start taking the straight line to success.
